The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stepped up to support Nigeria in a big way, sending 50 tons of humanitarian aid to help those affected by the recent devastating floods. This generous donation was initiated by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan and underscores the country's ongoing commitment to assisting nations impacted by natural disasters.
Ambassador Salem Alshamsi expressed his thoughts on the relief effort at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, highlighting the UAE's dedication to providing support. Top officials from key Nigerian agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the office of the National Security Adviser, received the aid on behalf of the flood victims.

Relief Materials: 50 tons of humanitarian aid, including critical food items, were dispatched to Nigeria.

The UAE's humanitarian aid to Nigeria is part of its broader commitment to global development and humanitarian assistance. Between 2020 and 2022, the UAE provided AED 34.20 billion (USD 9.31 billion) in foreign aid.
Zubaida Umar, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its generous donation of 50 tons of humanitarian aid to support Nigeria's flood victims. The multi-million relief materials will significantly complement the Federal Government's efforts to provide aid and support recovery efforts.
According to Umar, this donation will bolster the government's initiatives to help flood victims rebuild their lives. Ahmed Dunoma, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also conveyed President Bola Tinubu's appreciation, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
This gesture demonstrates the UAE's commitment to standing by nations in times of crisis, as emphasized by UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Alshamsi. The aid is particularly crucial, given the devastating impact of the floods, which have affected over 610,000 people, displaced 225,000, and damaged key infrastructure.
