The main stumbling block was Barcelona's €40m valuation of Vitor Roque, which Pradé deemed unacceptable, saying, “Barça wanted €40m for Roque so... no chance.” The Italian club was unwilling to meet the steep price tag, leading to the collapse of the transfer.
