Chelsea Star Enzo Fernandez Banned from Driving for 6 Months | Argentine Midfielder Fined £3,020 for Motoring Offences
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been handed a six-month driving ban after being found guilty of two motoring offenses in west Wales. The 23-year-old Argentine footballer failed to identify the driver of a Porsche that allegedly ran a red light in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, in November 2023.
Fernandez was also found guilty of a similar offense involving the same Porsche, which was allegedly caught speeding in Swansea a month later. In addition to the driving ban, Fernandez was ordered to pay £3,020 in fines and costs.
Fernandez did not appear at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, as he had played for Argentina in Colombia the previous day. Despite his absence, the court handed down the sentence, highlighting the severity of the offenses committed by the Chelsea star.
On November 28, a Porsche Cayenne allegedly ran a red light on Church Street in Llanelli, and on December 20, it was reportedly caught speeding on Carmarthen Road in Swansea. Although it couldn't be proven that Fernandez was behind the wheel on both occasions, he failed to respond to police requests for driver information.
Enzo Fernandez already had nine penalty points on his license for prior speeding offenses. Magistrate Chairman Wyn Evans imposed six additional points for each instance of failing to provide driver information, resulting in an immediate driving ban.
Fernandez was ordered to pay a total of £3,010 by October 9, comprising £2,000 in fines, £210 in costs, and an £800 surcharge.
After playing a key role in Argentina's triumphant 2022 World Cup campaign, Enzo Fernandez was snapped up by Chelsea in 2023 for a staggering British record transfer fee of £107 million.
