Bayer Leverkusen returns to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim, thanks to Victor Boniface's brace and assist, moving to fourth place with six points.
Bayer Leverkusen rebounded from their shocking defeat before the international break, defeating Hoffenheim 3-1 in their Bundesliga clash. Nigerian forward Victor Boniface stole the show with two goals and an assist.
Leverkusen dominated the first half, scoring twice within 30 minutes. Martin Terrier opened the scoring in the 17th minute, assisted by Boniface, who then scored himself in the 30th minute. Mergim Berisha reduced the deficit for Hoffenheim just before halftime.
Boniface sealed the win with a powerful shot in the 75th minute, after a strong run down the left flank. This victory propelled Leverkusen to fourth place with six points from three games.
Manager Xabi Alonso praised his team's response after their 35-game unbeaten streak ended: “We reacted well, controlled the game better, and were more stable until the end... We were serious and very professional.”
Leverkusen now turns their attention to their UEFA Champions League opener against Feyenoord next week.
