Barcelona maintains perfect La Liga start with 4-1 win at Girona, thanks to Lamine Yamal's double and goals from Dani Olmo and Pedri.
Barcelona continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 4-1 win away at Girona. Lamine Yamal was the star of the show, scoring twice in the first half to set his team on their way to victory.
The 17-year-old Spanish winger opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a brilliant individual effort, dispossessing David Lopez deep in his own half before lifting the ball beyond goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga. Yamal doubled his tally just seven minutes later, showcasing his composure with a first-time finish from the edge of the box after Raphinha's free-kick rebounded to him.
Girona thought they had been awarded a penalty when Bryan Gil's header struck the arm of Inigo Martinez, but the decision was overturned after a video assistant referee review. Dani Olmo made history by becoming the first player to score in his first three Barcelona league matches since Cesc Fabregas in 2011, netting a fine finish from a tight angle in the 47th minute to make it 3-0.
Midfielder Pedri added to the tally 17 minutes later, slotting beyond Gazzaniga with ease after Marc Casado's defense-splitting pass. Substitute Cristhian Stuani scored a consolation goal for Girona 10 minutes from time with a first-time finish inside the penalty area. However, the match took a dramatic turn when Ferran Torres received a red card just six minutes after coming on, for a heavy challenge on Yaser Asprilla.
This victory propels Hansi Flick's Barcelona side four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, after their fifth consecutive win.
