Nigeria Police Force Announces Redeployment of Commissioners: IGP Kayode Egbetokun Assigns New Heads to Lagos, Abia, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom Commands.




The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has redeployed three police commissioners to other commands in a strategic move to enhance security and effectiveness. As the 22nd IGP, Egbetokun has been leading the Nigeria Police Force since June 19, 2023, bringing his wealth of experience to the table.


Some of his notable actions include placing all police commissioners on red alert during protests, demonstrating his commitment to maintaining public safety and order.


Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has made some significant changes in the police force, redeploying three commissioners of police to new commands. The affected commands are Rivers, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).



Below is the Breakdown of some the changes

New Assignments:

Rivers State: Olatunji Disu transferred to FCT

Delta State: Abaniwonda Olufemi now in Rivers State

FCT Command: Peter Opara now heads Delta Police Command.


“The posting of these strategic managers reflects the mission of the Inspector- General of Police to strategically reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilization of human resources available to the Force,” the statement reads.


“The IGP has, however, urged the new CPs of state commands to ensure diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties and adopt innovations that could mitigate security challenges in their respective areas of responsibility.


“He further encouraged them to key into the police reform plans, which will help the progress of the Nigeria Police Force and the growth of the country in general.”


Additionally, IGP Egbetokun has redeployed 40 senior police officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 26 Commissioners of Police, to ensure a professionally competent and service-driven police force.
