The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. This declaration allows Muslims and others to celebrate this significant occasion.


In a statement released on Friday, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the public holiday on behalf of the Federal Government. The statement was signed by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.


Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended warm congratulations to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid. He also encouraged them to utilize this period to offer prayers for lasting peace and a more prosperous Nigeria.
