Nigeria Labour Congress President Joe Ajaero detained by DSS at Abuja airport while trying to board a flight to the UK, amid allegations of terrorism financing and cybercrime.

The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday, September 9. The arrest occurred at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Ajaero was taken into custody while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official engagement. This comes after the Nigeria Police Force summoned him in August for questioning.

The police invitation was related to alleged connections to terrorism financing, cybercrime, and other accusations.

Ajaero's summons was outlined in a letter from the Deputy Commissioner of Police's office, Intelligence Response Team, Department of Force Intelligence.

The letter, signed by Adamu S. Muazu, warned that ignoring the invitation would result in his arrest.
