Nigeria's road network gets N1.4trn lifeline...
President Bola Tinubu approves N1.4 trillion for nationwide road projects, including Benin-Akure-Ilesha Road, Aba-Owerri Road, and others, to enhance Nigeria's road infrastructure, improve connectivity, and boost economic growth.
President Bola Tinubu chaired the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday, July 29, where a massive N1.4 trillion was approved for a comprehensive nationwide road development project, aimed at upgrading and expanding Nigeria's road infrastructure.
"The approved road projects include:
- Benin-Akure-Ilesha Road (150km x 2 lanes): N525 billion awarded to HiTech Construction, featuring concrete pavements
- Benin-Akure Road (66km section via Ilesha): N286 billion awarded to HiTech Construction
- Angingali-Udobi-Udona-Umo-Uwana-Ubalaka Road in Imo State: N26.46 billion (revised from N14 billion)
These projects aim to enhance Nigeria's road infrastructure, improving connectivity and facilitating economic growth.
The Federal Executive Council, chaired by President Bola Tinubu, approved a slew of road projects worth billions of naira.
These include:
• N21 billion for the rehabilitation of the Aba-Owerri Road, including the NNPC depot expressway in Abia State, awarded to Rudo Nigeria Limited.
• N57 billion for the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta-Iboro-Ilaro Road in Ogun State.
• N89 billion for Section Three of the Mubi to Maiduguri Road.
• N67 billion for Section Two of the Mubi to Maiduguri Road.
Additional projects greenlit by President Tinubu include:
• N79 billion for infrastructure development in Cross River State.
• N83 billion for the Enugu-Port Harcourt Road rehabilitation.
• N19.87 billion for the construction of the Igomu Bridge.
• N90 billion for the Umuahia to Aba Road upgrade.
• N134 billion for the Ore-Ondo-Akure Road rehabilitation.
• N27.9 billion for the Ofin-Oreta Road in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
