Dr. Adefemi Gbadamosi, a Nigerian doctor and visual artist, has achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual. His massive artwork, spanning an impressive 850 square meters, surpasses the previous record held by Ravi Soni from India.
Ravi Soni had set the record on November 30, 2021, at Maharana Bhupal Stadium in India, with a drawing measuring 629.98 square meters. This was Soni's 12th successful attempt, as verified by Guinness World Records. Dr. Gbadamosi's achievement now sets a new benchmark, cementing his place in the record books.
Dr. Adefemi Gbadamosi began his record-breaking attempt on July 16 and successfully completed it on July 21. Not content to simply break the record, he pushed himself further, expanding his artwork to an astonishing 1,000 square meters, cementing his place in the Guinness World Records.
The artwork, titled “Unity in Diversity,” celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria, showcasing the country's diverse ethnic groups through their distinctive attire, languages, customs, and artistic expressions. This monumental piece not only showcases Dr. Gbadamosi's artistic talent but also promotes unity and diversity, making it a truly remarkable achievement.
In an Instagram video, he said, “Hi guys, I am so happy to say that we have broken the current record, and all we have to do now is set a new one.”
As Dr. Adefemi Gbadamosi worked on his record-breaking artwork at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos, he received visits from several celebrities and dignitaries who came to show their support and witness his remarkable feat. Among them was Hilda Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, a renowned Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder herself, who brought food and supplies to fuel Dr. David's artistic marathon.
Dr. David also received a special visit from Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, who took time to commend Dr. David's efforts personally. Obi's visit added to the encouragement and motivation that fueled Dr. David's determination to complete his massive artwork and set a new Guinness World Record.
Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, visited Dr. David at the stadium, offering personal commendations and adding to the encouragement. Moreover, President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have congratulated Dr. David on his record-breaking achievement, describing it as a remarkable feat that has filled Nigerians with immense pride and admiration.
Since Hilda Baci set the Guinness World Record for the longest cook-a-thon in June 2023, many Nigerians have been inspired to attempt their own record-breaking feats. Dr. David's achievement is a testament to this inspiration, and his success has further motivated others to pursue their own dreams and push beyond their limits.
