Osigwe triumphs in NBA Election...

Afam Osigwe, a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has been declared the winner of the 2024 Nigerian Bar Association presidential election. The election was held on Saturday, and Osigwe secured a significant majority, receiving 20,435 votes.

Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Board, emerged as the runner-up, garnering 10,998 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, former Chairman of the NBA Lagos branch, polled 9,018 votes, finishing third. Prior to the conclusion of the online voting process, Ikwuazom had announced his withdrawal from the election, citing concerns regarding the integrity of the process.

“Since the commencement of voting earlier today, my supporters and I have observed disturbing patterns that do not align with the actual votes cast,” Ikwuazom said.

Afam Osigwe will assume the role of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, succeeding Yakubu Maikyau, who has held the position since 2022. Osigwe's victory in the 2024 NBA presidential election marks a new chapter in the association's leadership.

As the incoming NBA President, Osigwe will build on the legacy of his predecessor, Yakubu Maikyau, who has led the association since 2022. Osigwe's tenure is expected to bring new perspectives and initiatives to the forefront, shaping the future of the legal profession in Nigeria.
