Mikel Arteta refuses to comment on Riccardo Calafiori deal but admits Arsenal need to improve certain positions, while expressing disappointment at Takehiro Tomiyasu's training injury.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has refused to provide a direct update on the club's pursuit of Bologna left-back Riccardo Calafiori, but acknowledged the need to strengthen certain positions.

When asked about the Calafiori deal, Arteta said, “Can't give an update, but obviously, we know there are certain positions that we want to improve.”

Meanwhile, Arteta expressed disappointment and surprise at the injury sustained by Takehiro Tomiyasu during training. “Tomiyasu injury? It's unbelievable, the kid works so hard, and he had an incident in training,” Arteta revealed.

The Spaniard's comments suggest that Tomiyasu's injury may be a significant setback for the team, and the club's pursuit of Calafiori could be a response to the Japanese defender's untimely absence.
