Tems Wins Big at BET 2024! Nigerian singer Tems took home Best Gospel/Inspirational Song for “Me & U”

Tems, whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, emerged as the sole Nigerian winner at the 2024 BET Awards, taking home the award for ‘Best Gospel/Inspirational Song.’

The 2024 BET Awards ceremony, which aired live from Los Angeles on June 30-July 1, saw Tems triumph over fellow nominees Halle Bailey and Kirk Franklin in the ‘Best Gospel/Inspirational Song’ category. Her winning song, ‘Me & U,' was released in 2024 and impressed the judges, earning her the coveted award.

Nigerian music stars received a nod at the 2024 BET Awards with nominations for Damini Ogulu (Burna Boy), Ahmed Ololade (Asake), Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe (Ayra Starr), Tems, David Adeleke (Davido), Lekan Osifeso jnr (Lojay), and Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi (Seyi Vibez).

Ayra Starr led the pack with three nominations: Best New Artiste, Best African Act, and Best HER. Burna Boy secured two nominations in the Best Male Hip Hop Artiste and Best Male R&B/POP Artiste categories. Tems also received two nominations for Best Video Director and Best Gospel/Inspirational Song.
