Soludo Appoints Bianca Ojukwu, Chidi Odinkalu to Anambra Varsity Council
ANAMBRA State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Prof. Chidi Odinkalu as Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Igbariam, and Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as a member of the university's governing council. This announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday, June 4, by Soludo's Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
The newly constituted council, characterized by a commitment to excellence, integrity, and strategic leadership, will provide guidance and supervision for the ongoing advancement and progress of the state-owned university. The council members, selected for their expertise and dedication, will work together to ensure the university's continued growth and success.
Notably, both Odinkalu and Ojukwu previously served as chairman and secretary, respectively, of the Anambra Truth, Peace, and Justice Commission, established by the governor to investigate the underlying causes of insecurity in the South-East. The council also includes additional members such as Chief Ifeoma Ekwueme, Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, and HRH Oranu Chris Chidume.
The statement emphasized the governor's commitment to excellence in education and his confidence in the newly constituted council to drive the university's progress. With this appointment, the council is well-positioned to provide strategic leadership and guidance, ensuring the university's continued advancement and contribution to the state's development.
The statement read partly, “Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of a Governing Council for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Anambra State.
“The new Council, assembled with a focus on excellence, integrity and strategic leadership, will provide guidance and oversight for the continued growth and development of the state- owned university.
“The members of the new Council include the following Prof. Chidi Odinkalu (Pro-Chancellor/Chairman), other members are Chief (Mrs) Ifeoma Ekwueme, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu- Ojukwu, Chief Christopher Ndubuisi and HRH Oranu Chris Chidume,” the statement added.
