On Monday, June 10, all six of the South West states' governors were present in a meeting held behind closed doors in Lagos, where Sanwo-Olu was elected.
He succeeded the late Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who presided over the forum until his death on December 27, 2023.
The same Monday, June 10, Sanwo-Olu convened a meeting with his southwest regional counterparts.
The governors from Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Ondo, Dapo Abiodun in Ogun, Seyi Makinde in Oyo, Ademola Adeleke in Osun, and Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti were present at the meeting.
Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu's media aide, stated in a statement issued about the event that the meeting's main objective would be to discuss problems that affect both the southwest region and Nigeria overall.
“The close-door meeting, which started around noon, is currently going on at Governor Sanwo-Olu's Office in Lagos House, Ikeja.
“The meeting, being hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, is attended by all the six governors from the zone.”
