NFF Unveils Three-Man Shortlist for Super Eagles Coach Position
NFF shortlists three foreign coaches for Super Eagles job, Marc Brys, Antonio Conceição, and Didier Six in the running to succeed Finidi George as Nigeria's new head coach.
According to reports, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has compiled a shortlist of three foreign coaches who are likely to be selected to succeed Finidi George as head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria.
Following Nigeria's dismal performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers—where they were held to a 1-1 draw by South Africa before losing 1-2 to Benin Republic and finishing fifth in their group—Finidi was fired as the team's head coach. Four rebounds behind Rwanda's leading.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly shortlisted three candidates for the Super Eagles coaching position, with Marc Brys, the current coach of Cameroon's national team, emerging as a top contender. Brys is said to be eager to leave his current role due to a strained relationship with Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian football organization.
Antonio Conceição, the former coach of Cameroon, is seen as the favorite among the three men on the shortlist due to his track record on the continent during his two years as Cameroon's manager.
Didier Six, who coached Guinea's senior national team until 2021, is the last person on the list. Former French international Six has coached the senior teams of Mauritius and Togo in the past.
When Nigeria's holiday for the celebration of Ramadan ends, all three will be screened and granted interviews for the position.
