Former Ondo State governor Olusegun Mimiko is back in school to earn a second degree.

He recently finished the first semester of the program at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, with the goal of earning a master's degree in health law and policy.

For the first time in Nigerian medical education history, the institution incorporated Medical Law instruction into the undergraduate medical curriculum through the UNIMED Health Law and Policy program.

The Institute of Advanced Clinical Sciences Education, led by physician, attorney, and pan-Nigerian nationalist Prof. Leroy Edozien, is hosting it.

The curriculum addresses topics like permission, confidentiality, clinical negligence, mental health, public health, legal and ethical concerns in reproduction, end-of-life concerns, and research governance. The discipline of law is one that is rapidly expanding.

The University has launched a postgraduate Master's program in Health Law and Policy in the hopes of providing chances for doctoral degrees in the upcoming academic year.

The first specialized tertiary medical and health sciences institution in Nigeria is the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, which it proudly represents.

UNIMED, which was founded in 2014 by Mimiko while he was governor, has persisted in leading the way in the introduction of medical programs by offering integrated education and research of the highest caliber in all fields connected to health.
