Lionel Messi hit the post in the first half, and Alexis Mac Allister missed a great chance after the interval. Chile finally had a chance in the 72nd minute, but Rodrigo Echeverria's shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

After Maxime Crepeau stopped a Piero Quispe shot, Gianluca Lapadula's goal was disallowed for offside. Peru's Miguel Araujo was sent off for a strong challenge, and David scored Canada's first goal 15 minutes later. Canada faces Chile on Sunday.
Mexico's captain Edson Alvarez announced he would miss the remainder of the Copa America due to a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 win over Jamaica. The West Ham United midfielder left the field after 30 minutes.
Claudio Bravo was named man of the match, and Argentina's win secured their spot in the quarterfinals.
“I have made the decision to stay with the team until the end, to support and encourage them, as I always have done. Now it will be my turn off the field,” Alvarez said in a video posted on social media by the national team.
“It will also help my rehabilitation and return as soon as possible.”
