POPULAR Nigerian musician Wizkid, real name Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, is said to have made fun of fellow musician David Adeleke, Davido, for the depreciation of Davido's newly released cryptocurrency coin, $Davido.
In a recent turn of events, Davido's amassed social media following caused the coin's market valuation to plummet to $2.1 million, wiping out nearly 80% of its initial value.
According to data from the cryptocurrency publication Dailycoin, Davido took a whopping $474,000 out of the token before severing connections.
Well-known figures in the cryptocurrency world have claimed on social media that $Davido was a “Crypto Scam” from the beginning.
Cryptocurrency researcher Justin Gallum expressed his opinion that Davido ought to be imprisoned without holding back.
“If you bought the $DAVIDO meme coin expecting to cash out profits, in here to tell you that you were outright scammed by Davido himself. This is textbook behaviour for a crypto rug pull scam,” said Rume, an Analyst on Channel TV and other media platforms.
Wizkid also posted something on his X handle. “Work smart make you no go dey hustle like fool,” he said, perhaps addressing one of his colleagues.
As some fans who invested in $Davido celebrate their returns on social media, others have also taken to the platform to share their disappointing losses.
The musician took to X on Thursday night to express gratitude to all of the fans of $Davido, but he has not yet formally replied to the “scam” tweets that are circulating.
“I want to thank everyone that joined the $DAVIDO community last night!” he said
