Nigerian actress criticizes government's decision to reinstate old national anthem, saying it's a misguided attempt to reignite patriotism. She calls for focus on good governance, economic growth, and social welfare instead.

According to her: “Nigerians, we hail thee! In the midst of excruciating hardship and lack of basic amenities, our nation's leadership has deemed it fit to revert to the old national anthem. While we struggle to access quality healthcare, education, and electricity, among other essential services, our leaders believe that going back to a colonial-era anthem will somehow reignite patriotism and solve our problems. It's ironic that they think a nostalgic tune will be the panacea for our woes, rather than addressing the pressing issues of good governance, economic growth, and social welfare. The labor of our heroes past will not be in vain if we continue to demand better from our leaders and work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians.”
