Kogi Govt Confirms Abduction of 9 Students, Vows to Ensure Safe Return

The Kogi government affirms the kidnapping of nine students and guarantees their safe return.

The kidnapping of nine students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC), Osara, Okene, has been formally confirmed by the Kogi State Government.

Terrorists attacked the university grounds at 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, shocking the students as they were getting ready for their next tests.

Arriving through the jungle, the attackers reportedly burst into three lecture halls, shooting into the air to terrorize the pupils.

Governor Usman Ododo responded quickly to the crisis by activating the state's security apparatus to find the kidnappers and guarantee the safe return of the students who had been abducted.

Kingsley Fanwo, the state commissioner for information and communications, affirmed the governor's preemptive actions, saying that local hunters and security personnel were called in to find the missing children.

Fanwo emphasized the government's resolve to finding a solution in an official statement released on Friday, May 10, assuring the Kogi state public that every attempt was being made to free the kidnapped students without incident.

The state administration praised the local hunters and security personnel for their quick thinking and bravery in handling the issue.

The government persisted in its resolve to guarantee the safe return of every student who had been taken, in spite of the obstacles.

The statement emphasized the continuous combined efforts of neighborhood hunters and security personnel, who are thoroughly searching the region to find and ensure the students' release.

Governor Ododo also gave the go-ahead for security guards to be stationed throughout the state to protect all universities.
