Student Fight at LAUTECH Left 1 Dead, Several Injured
ON Monday, April 22, during the convocation celebration, a violent conflict broke out amongst Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) students at a nightclub in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.
A disagreement between two student groups led to a violent altercation that left one person dead and numerous others hurt.
As the situation worsened, witnesses said, the nightclub owner called the police, but one person died in the altercation.
While fresh videos that were uploaded to the internet showed kids escaping for their lives during the tragedy.
The Ogbomosho Police Area Command has received the deceased's body.
Authorities from LAUTECH and the police have declined to comment on the situation thus far.
It was also learned that, after the fight, students severely damaged a lot of property in the lounge.

A final-year student named Jamiu was allegedly shot dead after a fight between cult members and police at Lajolo village, which brings to mind other violent incidents involving students at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Numerous people, including police officers, were hurt in this confrontation.
The Kwara State Police Command explained that, in response to ongoing violence in the region, the altercation occurred during an operation aimed at cults.
“The injured policeman and the suspects have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” according to the police.
Students protested the incident, blocking traffic and creating disturbances.
The incident happened in the nearby Lajolo neighborhood, not on campus, as the polytechnic administration made clear.
They guaranteed that nothing would impact scheduled campus events, such as exams.
However, in order to settle things down and deal with the fallout from these upsetting events, officials moved quickly.
