FRANK Nweke Jr., a former minister of information, has said that Yahaya Bello, the embattled former governor of Kogi state, treated the people of Kogi state like his slaves and acted recklessly in both speech and behavior.

Nweke made the claim under the X handle in response to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) announcement that Yahaya was wanted on suspicion of fraud and money laundering.

The ex-minister under Olusegun Obasanjo wrote the following:

“The man is a specimen of those to whom political power must never be handed to. He carried on as if there was no tomorrow. The man had no sense of responsibility. It's doubtful he had a sense of self-awareness. Public service and public trust meant nothing to him. He was reckless in his speech and his conduct. Kogi people were his slaves. Every and anything Kogi was his to do as he pleased. He only remembered he had a tenure when it ended. Now we know why he chose to squat with his successor, the new caitiff, in Lugard House.”

Bello is currently on the watchlist of the Nigerian Immigration Service, or NIS.

This happened after he skipped his arraignment hearing in relation to a N80.2 billion money laundering case.

Following a day of fruitless attempts to apprehend Bello at his Abuja home, the EFCC proclaimed him wanted on Thursday, April 18.

The public was urged to provide the anti-graft agency with the information it needs in order to potentially lead to his arrest.
