THE 700-kilometer coastal roadway between Lagos and Calabar is currently being built by the Federal Government.
The project's work has begun, according to a statement released by Orji Uchenna, the Special Advisor on Media for the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
A contract valued at N1.067 trillion was authorized by the Federal Executive Council, or FEC, for the initial phase of the highway's construction.
David Umahi describes the 47.47 km dual carriageway as having five lanes on each side and a rail track in the middle. It also explains that the dual carriageway is a portion of the 700 km route that spans nine states and has two spurs that go up north. The facility will be built of concrete.
