Nigeria’s Chief Justice Ariwoola Approves Nomination Of His Ally Nyesom Wike's Wife
Ariwoola confirms 22 new judges, and Nyesom Wike's wife Eberechi is promoted to the Appeal Court.
MON DIARIES learned that Eberechi Suzette Wike, the spouse of FCT minister Nyesom Wike, has been elevated from the Rivers High Court to the Court of Appeal.
22 judges were chosen to take up open positions after 89 judges were nominated for promotion as a result of some senior jurists retiring.
Mrs Wike's name, along with 21 other names on the priority list for President Tinubu's appointment, was authorized by Nigeria's Chief Justice, Kayode Ariwoola. On April 2, 2024, Mr. Ariwoola signed a paper bearing the mark FJSC/01/2024.
Ishaq Mohammed Sani (Kaduna), Zainab Bage Abubakar (Kebbi), and Abdulaziz M. Ankara (Zamfara) are the authorized justices for the North-West.
Nnamdi Okwy Dimga Victoria (Abia), Toochukwu Nwoye (Anambra), Henry Aja-Onu Njoku (Ebonyi), Donatus Uwaezuoke Okorowo (Enugu), and Ngozika N Okaisabor (Imo) are among the recently suggested judges from the South-East.
Justices Ntong Festus Ntong (Akwa-Ibom), Nehizena Idemudia Afolabi (Edo), and Ms. Nyesom-Wike (Rivers) were suggested for promotion for the South-South area.
The South-West region saw the elevation of judges Lateef Babajide Lawal-Akapo (Lagos), Abiodun Azeem Akinyemi (Ogun), Oyewumi Oyejoju Oyebiola (Oyo), and Bayo Ademola Taiwo (Oyo).
