Ebonyi Police Apprehends Suspect After Rescuing 6 Kidnapped Children

SIX kidnapped children have been freed by the Ebonyi State Police Command, and the head of a gang that specializes in kidnapping children has been taken into custody.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the police spokesperson, said in a statement that the operation was prompted by an information that was received on Sunday, January 21.

Nkwuda Francis revealed that two children had been taken from his home in Nwezenyi Igbeagu, Izzi local government area, by a woman first identified as Mercy Francis, who was allegedly a youth corps member.

Ukandu said that further inquiries had shown Ngozi to be the real identify of the culprit. Salutations to Abia.

The three- and seven-year-old missing children were located and returned to her care in the interim.

These kids were saved, and the ringleader who was planning these kidnappings was apprehended as a result of the operation's success.

He said, “After an extensive investigation conducted by officers from the gender unit of the command, the suspect was traced to Oba, Anambra, where the children were successfully rescued and reunited with their family.”

According to Ukandu, the mother of three children who went missing in the state's Ohaozara LGA, Lovina Iwuorah and Ndifereke Wisdom Clement, recognized the suspect as the one responsible for their children's disappearance.

“Further investigation led officers to Benin City, Edo state, where the children were discovered in an orphanage,” he stated.

The suspect's strategy is to rent an apartment, get to know gullible neighbors, win their trust, and then kidnap their kids for financial advantage.

The command urges guardians and property owners to thoroughly investigate the backgrounds of prospective renters.
