CRIMINAL accusations against Ganduje and his wife stem from alleged bribery of N1.38 billion and $413k.
According to information obtained, the state has summoned fifteen witnesses to provide testimony against Ganduje.
Together with other people and businesses allegedly connected to the bribery allegations, the charge sheet, dated April 3, 2024, names Ganduje's wife, Hafsat, and son, Umar, as co-defendants.
As soon as he took office, Governor Abba Yusuf charged Ganduje with mismanaging finances and giving his family members preferential treatment while selling land.
Ganduje is accused of soliciting and accepting bribes from contractors while serving as governor, among other things.
The former governor is accused by the state administration of illegally diverting about N1.3 billion intended for the procurement of medical supplies, together with the help of his spouse and a businessman, resulting in losses for the state and its citizens.
Attorney General Muhuyi Magaji of Kano State highlighted legal rules enabling him to bring charges against the defendants.
Additionally, two committees have been formed by Governor Yusuf to look into allegations of political violence, missing people cases, and public asset theft within Ganduje's government.
He underlined the significance of accountability and pledged to return any lost or stolen public property.
The committees, led by Justice Faruk Lawan and Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, are assigned the responsibility of looking into financial irregularities and political violence, respectively, between 2015 and 2023.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the investigations' objectivity and urged the commissions to preserve justice and openness.
He affirmed his faith in the honesty of the committee members and asked for thorough reports in three months.
However in order to maintain democratic stability and stop similar incidents in the future, the governor underlined the gravity of political violence and the necessity of addressing it.
