Appointees Of Former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Switch From PDP To APC

FORMER Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu appointees have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Prior to the APC's zonal caucus meeting on Tuesday, April 2, they defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday, April 1.


Chief Donatus Nwankpa, the party's national welfare secretary, and Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the minister of state for labour and employment, accepted them into the party.


They announced their switch from the PDP to the APC at a stakeholders gathering that was called in the minister's home town of Isuochi, Abia State.


Among them were Prof. A. C. B. Agbazuere, the immediate former chief of staff to Ikpeazu; Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, the state's former commissioner of communication; Chief Eze Nwanganga, the former commissioner of public utilities; and Chief Sam Nwogu, the former commissioner of the environment.


Key PDP members from the state's 17 local government districts and three senatorial districts, as well as Elder Godwin Nna, the former commissioner for commerce; and Chief Uzor Ihuka, the former commissioner representing Isiala-Ngwa North, Isiala-Ngwa South, and Osisioma local government areas on the board of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC.


Eight former Edo State local government chairmen who had defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2020 under Governor Godwin Obaseki returned to the APC on the same Monday.


Former Etsako Central Local Government chairman John Akhigbe, Dr. Josie Ogedegbe, Igueben, Frank Ilaboya, Owan West, Andrew Osigwe, Owan East, Napoleon Agbama, Uhunmwonde, Austin Okoibhole, Esan North East, Mrs. Ruth Osahor, Esan West, and Scott Ogbemudia, Ovia North East, all made a commitment to support the party and work toward its election victory on September 21, 2024.
