Again, Fire Destroys Borno Market
MAIDUGURI, the capital of Borno State, has seen another fire break out in the Gamboru market, which is located near the Customs area.
Alhaji Usman Tar, the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, verified the occurrence and said that the fire started in Layin Yan Katako and the outside areas of the market.
The fire broke out on Wednesday, April 3, at approximately ten o'clock at night, but the fire department quickly put it out.
Usman claimed that in order to determine the tragedy's root causes and put preventative measures in place to avoid future occurrences of this kind of thing, the State Emergency Management Agency and the fire department are now investigating the situation immediately.
The commissioner confirmed the state government's dedication to efficiently handling fire calamities within the state.
However, he has called on the people to respect law and order and give the safety of the market top priority.
“On behalf of the Borno State Government, we commiserate with all who are affected by this incident.
“We also thank the first responders for their speed of action which prevented the fire from spreading across the market space,” he said.
