Terrorists Attack And Kill 11 Abducts 20 In Zamfara State

Attackers in Zamfara kill eleven and kidnap twenty

Terrorists assaulted the Gidan Zuma community in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Sunday, March 24, resulting in the deaths of no fewer than 11 persons and the kidnapping of 20 more.

The majority of those kidnapped, according to the locals, were women and children.

Since the vigilantes in the neighborhood, who typically keep the community safe, were occupied defending a location that was under attack, the attackers faced little resistance.

Gidan Zuma, which is located a short distance from Bungudu town, the local government seat, had been relatively peaceful before to this tragedy because of a strong local defensive system that kept armed attackers at bay.

However, this peace was shattered by the attack on Sunday, underscoring the ongoing threat that terrorists poses in the area.

“The attackers invaded the town on Sunday after they got a hint that our vigilante members went to assist the neighboring community that was under attack.

“The gunmen first killed five people at the entrance of the town and killed six others at the climax of their operation inside the town,” a resident said.

A local resident described the horrific facts of the incident that took place in the Gidan Zuma village on Monday. The man's wife and child were among those kidnapped.

He said that majority of the locals were following the Islamic Ramadan fast during the day when the assault took place.

“I don't know the condition of my family now. I watched as they went away with my wife carrying the child. I felt completely helpless,” he stated.

With several armed organizations, sometimes known as bandits, operating in the region, Zamfara state continues to be among the most severely affected by terrorism in Northwest Nigeria.

These criminal syndicates regularly target locals indiscriminately with violent activities, such as kidnappings and murders.

However, the terrorists frequently travel in large motorcycle convoys to carry out their operations, even while security personnel are present in the vicinity.
