Saudi Arabia Has Seen The Crescent, Which Marks The Start Of The Holy Month Of Ramadan

This is in line with a declaration made by Saudi Arabia's Haramain Sharafain.

“The Crescent of Ramadan 1445/2024 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia! Subsequently, Ramadan 1445/2024 begins tomorrow, 11 March 2024. Taraweeh Prayers will begin in the Two Holy Mosques after Isha Prayers,” the statement read.

The moon, which was visible on Sunday night, marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, which begins on Monday, March 11, and the end of Sha'aban, the eighth month in the Hijri calendar.

The Lunar Islamic calendar, which has months that last 29 or 30 days and start and end according to the sighting of the moon, determines the month of Ramadan.

Muslims in Nigeria will wait for official confirmation from the Sultan of Sokoto before starting their fast, as they have not yet observed the month.

The Islamic calendar's ninth month, Ramadan, is when Muslims worldwide fast for 29 or 30 days, depending on when the moon is visible. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset during this time.
