Nigerian Content Creators To Monetized Instagram June — Meta

June 2024 will see Nigerian creators make money on Facebook and Instagram

Instagram's parent company, Meta, is to introduce a new feature on its Instagram and Facebook apps in June 2024 with the goal of enabling Nigerian content producers to monetize their work and make a living on the network.

Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, made this remark after meeting President Tinubu at the presidential house earlier today.

Earlier in his speech, Clegg thanked President Tinubu for his assistance in granting an executive order that was essential to the installation of deep-sea cable infrastructure in Nigeria, which was endorsed by Meta.

He said, “It is an extraordinary infrastructure project. When it comes on stream in the first quarter of 2025, it will be twice as much as the capacity of all subsea cables that exist.

He estimated that the cable might have a positive economic impact, “We buried the cable 50 per cent deeper than any other subsea cables under the seabed.”

“It could yield up to 37 billion dollars worth of increase in economic activity in the next two or three years across the African continent.”

subsequently, Clegg went into further detail on Meta's pledge, stating, “We will, in June 2024, introduce a feature on our Instagram app that will allow Nigerian creators to monetize their content to enable them to earn a living using the app.”

“We have a lot to do with Nigeria to deepen partnerships,” Clegg continued.

Speaking as well, Dr. 'Bosun Tijani, Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, emphasized the necessity of cooperative efforts to promote growth in the digital economy sector and reiterated the significance of meta platforms in Nigeria.

He emphasized the value of teamwork by saying, “We must continue to engage to create opportunities for our people so they can also share in global prosperity.”
