Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho’s fate will be decided by the army after watching video clips.

The Nigerian military warns Igboho that it would be inappropriate if he uses armed to attack bandits and applauds the secessionists' promise to help reduce insecurity.

The Nigerian military has stated that it is prepared to collaborate with Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba activist, to drive out bandits who scare people from Southwest Nigeria's forests and highways.

The Nigerian military warns that Igboho will be out of line if he uses the military to attack bandits, while also applauding the secessionists' pledge to aid in reducing insecurity.

Defence Media Operations spokesman Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba made this assertion in a widely circulated video, adding that any action by Igboho without the backing of the military and other national security agencies would be considered unconstitutional.

He said, “This is our domain. We should save ourselves from Fulani. We should put security in all Yoruba land. We did not need to wait for anybody including the government. If we really mean business, we should not wait for the government or else Fulani will carry all our lands. We should be united. Which farms do we have again in Yoruba land? Can we go to farm now?”

Igboho asserted that his pursuit of the actualization of the Yoruba Nation would be carried out lawfully and that the people of the Southwest should band together to form a regional security force that shields them from the constant attacks on their farmland by Fulani herders.

He declared that he was open to talking with the government about legal means of pursuing his goals.

Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba responded to Igboho's comments by praising his audacity and telling him that the military would cooperate with him if he wanted to strengthen the nation's security.

“I have not seen the video where he made that statement, but one thing I must say is that people and communities are always welcome. If what he said is to make the situation better, he is welcomed, but if what he is saying is that we should disregard the armed forces of Nigeria, definitely, he is out of line because that is against  Nigeria's constitution,” he said.
