Meet Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, The Next Olubadan Of Ibadan.
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the incumbent Balogun of Ibadanland and the leader of the Olubadan system's military line, is expected to succeed Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun as the next Olubadan of Ibadan upon his passing.
According to tradition, today would mark Oba Olakulehin's sumbolic accession to the throne as palace drummers and chanters would relocate from Alli-Iwo to the Ita Baale palace.
According to MON DIARIES, Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde declared that Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, had joined his ancestors late on Thursday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Both the new Olubadan and the deceased Olubadan are residents of Oyo State's Ibadan North East Local Government.
Sunbo Owolabi, the late former governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi's commissioner for water resources, was Olakulehin's son.
The next in line for Olakulehin is customarily Sen. Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a former Oyo State governor and senator who leads the civil line as Otun Olubadan of Ibadan.
The death of Oba Balogun and the assumption of office by another Olubadan will cause promotion in the Olubadan system, especially in the Balogun line where the new Olubadan will emerge.
