Late Ondo Governor’s Wife Criticize Governor's Niece Over Joining Opposition Party
The late governor's niece backed incumbent Aiyedatiwa before the Ondo election
Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the late Rotimi Akeredolu's widow, has criticized her husband's niece Funke Akeredolu Aruna for backing Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the current governor, prior to the state's governorship election.
Betty called Funke bold in a Monday, March 4 Instagram post, but said it will take time to determine whether or not she is genuinely fortunate.
The late governor's wife wrote: “Behold the face of Aketi's niece, Funke Akeredolu Aruna, the former deputy chief protocol to Aketi, shamelessly parades as 'I am lucky' Bloody serpent! Time will tell if she is truly lucky!”
Remember that on December 27, 2023, Lucky Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office as the governor of Ondo State after his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu, passed away in Germany at the age of 67 from prostate cancer?
The governorship primary is scheduled for April 16, 2024, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC; the general election is scheduled for November.
Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami was appointed by Aiyedatiwa in January to the post of Deputy Governor of the state.
This occurred just over a month after he took office as the state's governor after Akeredolu's death.
Adelami's hometown is Owo, where Akeredolu was born.
However, all Senior Special Assistants (SSA) and Special Assistants (SA) were relieved of their duties by the newly appointed governor.
