Kim Kardashian Clarifies Why She Broke Up With Kanye West

Though she acknowledged that West is “the richest black man in America” and “the best rapper of all time,” Kim Kardashian admitted that it was his attitude that proved to be an unbeatable obstacle for her.

Kardashian stressed that compatibility concerns with Kanye West's character were the main factor in her decision to file for divorce.

“I married the best rapper of all time. Not only that, he is the richest black man in America, a talented legit genius who gave me four incredible kids. So when I divorced him you have to know it came down to just one thing, his personality,” she said.

Despite being legally married to Humphries at the time, Kardashian started dating Kanye West in April 2012.

On June 3, 2013, her and Humphries' divorce became official.

West proposed to Kardashian on October 21, her 33rd birthday, and the couple married on May 24, 2014, at Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy.

However according to a January 2021 CNN article, the couple were contemplating about getting a divorce.

After much conjecture, Kardashian filed for divorce formally on February 19, 2021.

In April 2021, the couple filed for divorce in court, citing “irreconcilable differences," and decided to share joint custody of their four children while forgoing spousal maintenance.

North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West are their four children.
