Government Of Ebonyi Increases Retirement Age For Teachers
The governor reportedly stated that education was a top priority of his administration in a number of forums, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The term of service for teachers in the state has been increased from 35 to 40 years, while the retirement age has been raised from 60 to 65 years by Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru.
Francis Nwifuru, the governor of Ebonyi State, has given his approval for the state's teachers to retire at the age of forty instead of 35.
This was revealed in a statement endorsed by Lea Ekene-Oketa, his Special Assistant on New Media.
He says that teachers in the state will now be able to work until they are 65 years old, and that the duration of service will also be adjusted to 40 years, effective immediately.
According to him, the state government's steadfast commitment to investing in the development of human capital is demonstrated by the decision to raise the retirement age and length of service requirements for teachers.
The governor's spokesperson stated that by keeping experienced educators in the field for an extended period of time, educational standards should rise dramatically, improving children' general academic achievement and prospects for the future throughout the state.
“This extension not only recognizes the invaluable experience and expertise that seasoned educators bring to the table but also acknowledges their dedication and commitment to shaping the minds of future generations,” the statement read.
