Hage Geingob, the president of Namibia, dies a few days after returning from a medical trip to the US
Hage Geingob, the president of Namibia, passed away early on Sunday at the age of 82.
The President died on Sunday while undergoing care at a hospital in the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek, according to Vice-President Nangolo Mbumba, who made the announcement of Mr. Geingob's passing.
“It is with utmost sadness and regret that I inform you that our beloved Dr. Hage G. Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia has passed on today,” a statement signed off by the acting president, Nangolo Mbumba, said.
Mr Geingob had been in the US briefly for “treatment therapy” for cancerous cells but died late Saturday, a few days after his return to continue receiving treatment in Namibia. He doed at Lady Pohamba Hospital with his wife and his children by his side.
