Most Nigerians Thrown In Darkness As Power Grid Collapses Again
Nigeria is in complete darkness due to another power grid failure
Nigeria's electrical grid failed, plunging the country into darkness once more.
The system capacity plummeted from 2,407 megawatts to just 31 megawatts by noon and to zero by 1 PM on Sunday due to a grid outage that was caused by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at around 11:51 AM.
The grid is still unreliable, failing customers over 141 times since the Federal Government privatized the industry more than eleven years ago.
While the generation companies have repeatedly voiced concerns about the impact on the equipment's durability and safety, distribution companies have already begun informing customers about the situation.
The states of Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi were plunged into darkness due to the loss of bulk power supply, as confirmed by Kaduna Electric.
By 11:51 AM, all 20 power plants were offline, with the exception of Ibom Power, which has 31 megawatts, according to the platform of the system operator.
