Former Metropolitan Police Officer Found Guilty Of Multiple Rapes, Including Three Against A Child, And Kidnap
A former police officer, 24, was found guilty of several rapes, three of which were against minors and others in the United Kingdom.
Multiple counts of rape in London, United Kingdom, have been found against a former Metropolitan Police officer.
Cliff Mitchell, 24, was found guilty on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, of 10 counts of rape, 3 counts of rape of a child under 13, 1 count of kidnapping, and 1 count of violating a non-molestation order.
Mitchell was initially charged with child rape in 2017, but the investigation produced no results. As a result, Mitchell was able to join the Met Police and start training there in August 2021.
However, he was apprehended once more in September of last year following the kidnapping and rape of a woman in her home at knifepoint. He blindfolded the woman, bound her hands with cable ties, and dragged her into his car, according to testimony given in court after the attack.
However, she managed to get out of the car, sound the alarm, and get assistance from a bystander who stopped to help by calling 999. Mitchell's vehicle was halted in Putney, about seven miles away, and a notice was issued.
The hooded top that had been used to blindfold his victim was found by police searching his car. Additionally, during searches at his house, a bag containing cable ties that matched the ones the victim had described was found.

Mitchell was accused of numerous counts of rape, kidnapping, and violating a non-molestation order. He was remanded in custody. He received an instant suspension from the Met.
He was charged with three counts of rape of a child under 13 and three additional counts of rape after detectives reopened their investigation into the 2017 allegations and sent a file to the Crown Prosecution Service.
These six charges, which took place between 2014 and 2017, were connected to a second victim.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy stated while chatting with reporters: “This is a truly shocking case and I am sickened by Mitchell's abhorrent behaviour and the pain he has caused the victims, who have shown enormous bravery by coming forward and giving evidence in court.
“It is down to their courage that he has been convicted and faces a significant custodial sentence. I would also like to recognise the brave member of the public who came to the aid of one of the victims as she ran from Mitchell's car.
“Mitchell not only carried out a sustained campaign of abuse against both of his victims, but he told one of them she would never be believed due to the fact he was a police officer. This brazen abuse of power makes Mitchell's actions all the more deplorable.
“Mitchell was dismissed from the Met in December 2023-we did not wait for his conviction today.”
