Economic Hardship: Pray, Repent, Sultan Of Sokoto Urges Nigerians
Sultan of Sokoto asks Nigerians to pray to God for relief from economic hardship
Alhaji Abubakar Sa'ad III, the Sultan of Sokoto, has stated that turning back to God in prayer is the surest path out of the severe adversity that many Nigerians are experiencing.
He stated that people's straying from God's path was the cause of the suffering. “Many verses in the Holy Qur'an make it clear that God will not look the other way if someone turns away from worshiping him. We'll keep offering the government sincere counsel,” he declared.
This was mentioned by the sultan during the Jama'atu Izalatil Bidi'a Wa'kamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) Jum'ah Mosque construction ceremony in Guzape, Abuja.
The sultan, accompanied by Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated, “Everyone is aware of the current state of affairs in Nigeria, but the only way to address it is to return to praying and requesting divine intervention. But since the Lord has said that there is relief after adversity, we should not ask for eye service but rather make sincere requests.”
Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the Chairman of the Council of Scholars at JIBWIS, counseled Nigerian judges to avoid corruption. In addition, he urged other public office holders to manage their offices honestly and openly.
Former governors, senators, National Security Advisor Malam Nuhu Ribadu, former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
