Economic Crisis: President Tinubu Orders Quick Resolution Of The Electricity Bill
President Bola Tinubu has directed the prompt settlement of a N342 million outstanding electricity bill owed by the Presidential Villa.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company's outstanding electricity bill needs to be paid immediately, per President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive.
The President's order comes after the State House Management and AEDC's accounts are reconciled.
A letter dated February 14, 2024 from the AEDC management to the State House Permanent Secretary states that the outstanding bill for the State House is N342, 352, 217.46, not the N923 million that the AEDC initially claimed in paid advertisements in newspapers.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured that the debt will be paid to AEDC by the end of this week after resolving the situation to the satisfaction of both parties.
The Chief of Staff also urged other MDAs to pay their electricity bills and reconcile their accounts with AEDC, emulating the Presidency.
