Economic Security: Vice President Shettima Demands Technology Adoption in the Business Environment
Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for adoption of technology and stronger synergy among Private and Public sectors.
To improve the business environment in Nigeria, Vice President Kashim Shettima of Nigeria has called on public and private sector stakeholders to adopt technology more quickly and more synergistically.
He made the announcement on Tuesday in Abuja, coinciding with the start of the 90-day Regulatory Reform Accelerator Action Plan by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
The PEBEC action plan highlights the administration of President Bola Tinubu's dedication to implementing significant reforms. The MDAs will collaborate to create a business-friendly atmosphere and enhance the perception of Nigeria's ease of doing business.
The Vice President, who presided over the second PEBEC meeting on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa Abuja, delivered the keynote address. He said that implementing pertinent technology and encouraging strong stakeholder participation will aid in removing obstacles faced by operators at the country's entry points and in the area of business regulation.
While institutionalizing MDA-led reforms through BFA 2022 compliance, the 90-Day Regulatory Reform Accelerator focuses on eight key indicators that are intended to yield quantifiable growth across industries in line with the PEBEC's Regulatory Reforms Workstream.
Crucial Signs
Review and update on MDA Service Level Agreements; Track MDA Transparency Reforms; Track MDA Efficiency Reforms; Track Entry & Exit (Airport) Reforms; Track Port Operations Reforms are the eight key metrics that will be actively tracked over the next ninety days. Encourage the National Single Window Project; Manufacturing for Export Reforms; and AgroExport Reforms.
PEBEC will keep stakeholders informed on the Accelerator's progress on a regular basis, even though the plan will be implemented in close cooperation with them.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Special Advisor to the President on PEBEC and Investment, had earlier in her presentation said that the 90-day Accelerator will produce quantifiable export-focused impacts for productivity and competitiveness across key sectors to enhance the business environment in Nigeria and support the Tinubu administration's economic initiatives.
The urgency
She emphasized the necessity of approaching the upcoming ninety days with a purpose and a sense of urgency in order to quickly improve Nigeria's business climate through private sector collaboration and a show of commitment to the general well-being of Nigerians, especially during these trying times.
