African Union Appoints Tinubu Health Champion
The African Union (AU) has designated President Bola Tinubu as its Champion for Human Resources for Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership.
President Tinubu's determination to train 120,000 health workers across the country in 16 months is what won him the championship. He was also acknowledged for his pledge to increase the number of primary health facilities in communities by double, from 8,800 to over 17,000, over the course of the following three years, in all local government areas of the federation.
The President recently announced that he would be heavily involved in the infrastructure development of a number of public tertiary health facilities across the nation. This new development follows his announcement.
The 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of AU Heads of State and Government is currently taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and the President is taking part in it as well.
