Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, announces a one-day fast to address insecurity and financial hardship

Borno's governor, Babagana Zulum, has called on the people of the state to fast and pray extra on Monday, as they have in the past, asking God to intervene in the suffering brought on by inflation.

Mr. Zulum pleaded with traditional leaders, religious leaders, and people to observe a voluntary one-day fast on Monday in support of the state's growth, peace, and prosperity during his broadcast to the populace. “I am deeply troubled by the recent hardships faced by our citizens, particularly the high cost of food items,” the governor stated.

He added, “I understand the burden this places on families and individuals, and I want to assure you that we are taking decisive steps to alleviate this issue.”

According to Mr. Zulum, the administration's main goal is to revitalize the agriculture industry in order to produce more food and lessen the need for palliative care.

He applauded the federal government for its unwavering assistance in our state's development and the war against insurgency. The governor also conveyed his appreciation to volunteers and the security forces for their selfless efforts in preserving lives and fostering social harmony that is necessary for growth and prosperity.

Zulum consequently declared a one-day statewide fast. “As people of faith and from our previous experience, I implore his eminence, the Shehu of Borno, the Chief Imam, Imams, and the Christian brothers and the citizens of Borno State to observe a one-day voluntary fast on Monday the 19th of February 2024,” the governor said. He urged everyone to pray for peace, prosperity and the development of the state while observing the fast.
