Abuja To Experience Six-hour Blackout Saturday — TCN
TCN alerts residents to the six-hour blackout that will occur in some parts of Abuja on Saturday.
TCN said that this would allow its maintenance team to perform a planned yearly preventive maintenance on its 132kV line 1 at the Apo Transmission Substation and the Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.
As per the TCN Public Affairs General Manager, the impacted areas comprise segments of Lokogoma, Kabusa Garden, TradeMore, Pyakasa, Aherita, Chika, Games Village, Stadium, Wuye, Utako, Life Camp, and Idu.
There will be a six-hour blackout in some areas of Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, on Saturday, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
TCN announced in a statement that regular maintenance on its 132kV line 1 at the Gwagwalada and Apo transmission substations is scheduled. The spokesperson for TCN is Ndidi Mbah.
Lokogoma, Kabusa Garden, TradeMore, Pyakasa, Aherita, Chika, Games Village, Stadium, Wuye, Utako, Life Camp, and Idu were among the locations that Mbah mentioned would lose power.
There will also be a power outage at the 132/33kV Kukwaba transmission substation, the TCN spokesperson continued.
According to him, the maintenance will happen between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
“Power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed as indicated,” the statement added.
TCN reported in December 2023 that vandals had broken into its Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132 kilovolts (KV) transmission line 1.
According to the commission, an area of the line between Towers 23 and 25 had been vandalized. Also, the vandals had taken conductors, which resulted in a power outage at the Kukwaba transmission substation.
