U.S Professor Accidentally Shot Dead By Security Guard In Osun
Accidental shooting death of an American professor in Osun by a security guard
Richard Adeoriokin, a politician and professor from the United States, was inadvertently shitfaced by a neighborhood security guard in Ejigbo, Osun State.
It was learned that on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at around 8:30 p.m., the incident took place.
Reports state that Oyeyode Oyesosin, the son of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Professor Adeoriokin, and his political associates were present at the regrettable incident, which happened at a public function on Inisha Road in Ejigbo.
Oyeyode Oyesosin invited his friends over for a quick meeting at his house following the event at the king's residence.
He gave the security guard the order to shoot gunshots into the air as a farewell gesture as the guests were getting ready to leave. Sadly, a security guard accidentally pointed one of his guns down, striking Professor Adeoriokin in the leg.
The report claims that Adeoriokin, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lecturer at Prairie View A&M University in Houston, Texas, was taken to the Baptist hospital in Ejigbo where he tragically died.
A comprehensive investigation into the death of Dr. Adeoriokin and the subsequent kidnapping of the security guard has been ordered by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Also, in an effort to improve public safety, particularly during public events, he has directed the State Police Command to establish regulations regarding the use of local firearms.
