Fire reportedly guts a building as a result of powering a generator with cooking gas in Delta State

Online videos depict plumes of smoke rising from the building's top. While the fire raged, locals gathered outside the building to record videos with their phones.

Those present at the scene claimed that a generator running on cooking gas was the cause of the fire.

“Na gas o, dem use gas take on gen,” one person said.

Neither an emergency services unit nor a fire truck had arrived at the location when the videos were taken.
