ASP Mansir Hassan told journalists that the suspect offered the bribe out of the ransom recovered from him by the police at a hotel in Tafa community



This is ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Divisional Officer who, upon being apprehended in a Kaduna Community hotel, turned down a bandit's offer of a one million naira bribe.


It has been reported that the bandit who was arrested offered a bribe using the ransom that the police had taken from him at a hotel in Tafa community.


The arrest was made on January 19, 2024, according to ASP Mansir Hassan, the Police Command Public Relations Officer.


He said that reliable information about the presence of the suspect at the Easyway hotel in Tafa town was sent to the divisional headquarters.


He clarified that their operatives, under the command of the Divisional Police Officer, stormed the hotel, apprehending a Zamfara State man named Bello Muhammad, 28, and taking N2,350,000.00, which they believed to be kidnapping proceeds.


He said that during the course of the inquiry, the suspect acknowledged to being a kidnapper who operates in the Kagarko Forest in Kaduna with his gang.


According to ASP Mansir, the aforementioned amount represents the suspect's portion of the ransom that was paid. He also stated that images of the suspect holding an AK-47 rifle in a forest were found on his cell phone, which supported the suspect's account.
