AFCON 2023: AFCON Doping Test - Osimhen And Others Are Cleared By CAF Before Match Against Angola
CAF picked Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles winger and defender, Moses Simon and Troost-Ekong
Nigeria Super Eagles trio Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, and William Troost-Ekong came out clean after an anti-doping test was conducted on them at the ongoing AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire.
Reports state that no illegal substance was found in their system during the test that was conducted on them.
This indicates that the three players will definitely play for the Eagles on Friday in the quarterfinal matchup with Angola.
The CAF Doping Control Officer, however, has the authority to choose extra players for sample collection at any time and for any reason.
Furthermore, the CAF Doping Control Officer will use targeted or random methods to select the players who will be tested.
It is mandatory for these athletes to submit blood and urine samples upon request.
The Super Eagles and Angola will play each other in the AFCON quarterfinals on Friday, which will be their first meeting of the tournament.
The football organization's Doping Control Officer is required by CAF to collect samples in their official capacity as a CAF Doping Officer in accordance with the COVID-19 new measures.
According to the CAF/FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations, two players from each team will ideally be tested at the conclusion of every game.
